IT WAS A GOOD RIDE. I EXPECTED ICY CONDITIONS BUT THEY WERE VERY GOOD,
MORE LIKE A SPRING RIDE
WHO ARE IN THE GERIATRIC STAGE? YOU AND ME?

MICK
On Sat. Feb. 3 Mick Steinman lead a ride from
Blewitt Pass to Mission Ridge and the Naneum Airfield. Fred and Dave Wemer, Andy
Smith, Ted, Mark Berg and Chuck Yadrosich enjoyed the fair weather day along
with the good snow. The grooming was excelent when we found the groomed roads,
but we found a lot of back trails and made many new trails of our own. We
traveled 65 miles and returned to the snowpark before 5:30pm.
Mick led seven eager riders ranging from two relatively
young riders that had not ridden in a couple of years to two in the geriatric
stage on a ride from Blewett to the Mission Ridge overlook. The weather was
overcast but visibility was good and the snow sugary. In the afternoon we had
light intermittent snow/rain for a few minutes. We rode on some nicely groomed
trails but mostly cross country avoiding roads that they were logging from and
giving the group some excitement as we climbed the hill to the ski area. On the
way home we dropped into some bowls that would have been difficult for all to
climb back out of but greatly added to the adventure. We tested Micks
preparedness using his saw to clear the last trail. We had about 65 miles on our
sleds falling short of Micks advertised 90 miles but since he used almost a full
tank of gas in his "Doo" he got us home just in time. All stopped at the Caboose
in Cle Elum for an enjoyable dinner and recap of the day. There were no major
incidents and everyone claimed to have had a good time.
